Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers first western Canada location opens in Okotoks
OKOTOKS – Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers®, a fast-casual restaurant concept, opens Tuesday, Sept. 30, at B221 200 Southridge Drive SE. The new restaurant marks the chain’s second location in Canada, and the first in Western Canada. Freddy’s has a Master Franchise and Development Agreement in Canada with veteran Canadian franchisees Jim Werschler and Gregg Most of North 49 Frozen Custard and Steakburgers. The Alberta area franchise owners include Ted Tomanik and local Okotoks residents, Brad and Tammy Gurr. Freddy’s is known for its craveable, fresh, cooked-to-order steakburgers made with lean 100 percent ground beef seasoned with Freddy’s Famous Steakburger & Fry Seasoning®, Vienna® Beef hot dogs, crispy shoestring fries and signature premium frozen custard treats including sundaes and concretes made with freshly churned chocolate or vanilla frozen custard.
“We’ve been making plans for the Alberta area for quite some time and are excited to officially open our first stop in the market. Okotoks is a vibrant town, and we greatly appreciate the excitement surrounding our grand opening,” said Tammy Gurr. “Giving back and community involvement is very dear to us, and in part of supporting our local community, we’re partnering with Okotoks Food Bank and we’ve also hired around 70 local individuals.”
Freddy’s is hosting a food drive for Okotoks Food Bank starting Sept. 30 through Nov. 30. Guests who visit the restaurant can drop off nonperishable food donations at the restaurant.
